The Government of India has decided to reduce the rates of 70 medicines including painkillers and antibiotics. Due to which the treatment of various diseases will become cheaper and common people will get some relief from expensive medicines.
Decision taken in NPPA meeting
The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority had recently called a meeting. In this meeting, a decision was taken to make medicines cheaper. Which the government announced officially by issuing a notification this week. In the meeting, the rates of 70 medicines including 4 special medicines have also been reduced.
What is NPPA?
Actually NPPA controls the rates of essential medicines in India. Mostly only those medicines which are commonly used are controlled.
These medicines will be cheaper
The 70 medicines whose prices have been reduced by NPPA include painkillers, antibiotics, medicines used in the treatment of fever, infection, diarrhoea, muscle pain, diabetes, blood pressure, and heart related diseases.
Medicines had become cheaper last month also
Last month also the government had made medicines cheaper. Last time, the prices of 54 commonly used medicines and 8 special medicines were reduced. These included antibiotics, multivitamins, diabetes, and heart related medicines. Apart from this, medicines used in the treatment of serious diseases like cancer were also made cheaper.
