Due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand, the Ganga, Kosi and Kali rivers are in spate. Also, due to heavy rains, landslides occurred at many places on the Badrinath National Highway on Saturday, due to which the road has been blocked in Lambagad, Nandprayag, Sonala and Barrage Kunj. The administration has appealed to the people not to go to the banks of these rivers. 200 roads are also closed due to landslides. The Char Dham Yatra has been stopped.
Religious importance of Char Dham Yatra
Char Dham Yatra is considered very important in Hinduism. According to beliefs, one attains salvation by visiting all the four Dhams. For this reason, every person associated with Hinduism wants to go on a Char Dham Yatra at some time or the other. These important Char Dhams of Hinduism, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are located in Uttarakhand. Two types of Char Dham Yatra are performed in Hinduism. One is the journey of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri and the other is the journey of Badrinath, Jagannath, Rameshwar and Dwarka Dham.
According to religious beliefs, Badrinath Dham is also called the eighth Vaikunth of the universe. Lord Vishnu comes here to rest for six months. Also, Lord Shankar rests in Kedarnath Dham. There are two mountains in Kedarnath, which are known as Nar and Narayan. He is one of the 24 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. It is also believed that Badrinath Dham is visited only after visiting Kedarnath Dham. Only by doing this, the full fruit of worship is obtained.
