There will be a government holiday in Punjab on Monday, January 6. On Monday, there will be an official government holiday in the state on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. There will be a series of two days of holiday in the first week of January. Government and private institutions will remain closed across the state on Sunday, January 5 and on January 6 due to the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Holidays extended due to cold
Let us tell you that in view of the severe cold, the government has extended the winter holidays (holidays in schools) in the state schools and Anganwadi centers till January 7. Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains told X that as per the guidelines of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, holidays in government, aided, recognized and private schools of the state have been extended till January 7 due to cold weather.
Now all schools will open on January 8. Meanwhile, Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that due to winter season, it is very difficult for small children to come to Anganwadi centers, in view of which the Punjab government has extended the holidays for children of 3 to 6 years in Anganwadi centers till January 7. Earlier, the Punjab government had declared winter holidays from December 24 to December 31 in all government, aided, recognized and private schools of the state.
