An orange alert for dense fog has been issued in Punjab for the next two days. Dense fog is likely to prevail in most parts of Punjab today i.e. on Friday and in some places on Saturday. On the other hand, fog prevailed in most districts on Thursday morning. Visibility was very low in the morning. On Thursday, the lowest temperature was recorded in Fazilka district. Where the minimum temperature was recorded at 4.9 degrees Celsius.
Visibility expected to be up to 50 meters
According to the Meteorological Center, an orange alert for dense fog has been issued in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Patiala and Malerkotla today. Visibility here can be 50 meters or less. Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued regarding fog in all other districts of Punjab. After this, a new western disturbance will be active from December 18. Due to which the temperature of Punjab will once again fall.
Effect of fog seen in many districts
Before landing at Amritsar airport, the flight from Malaysia had to circle in the air for about 2 hours and finally had to be diverted to Delhi. Apart from Amritsar, the effect of fog was also seen in Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Faridkot and Moga.
