Farmers in Amritsar say that their entire crop has been ruined due to continuous rain. He said that all our wheat has become wet and spoiled due to rain water. Because of which no one is buying our wheat. We demand from the government that a shed should be built in the grain market so that the wheat is lifted on time and the wheat does not get spoiled.
Now the yield is 11-12 quintals
He said that the government should take care of the farmers and compensate them for their losses. On this occasion, Amandeep Singh Chhina, head of Dana Mandi Bhagtanwale, said that the yield of wheat is 22-23 quintals per acre. But due to rain, 11-12 quintals are being produced. Also getting Rs 25 thousand per acre.
He said that the farmer already has a lot of debt. When farmers give wheat to the commission agent in their market, it becomes his responsibility. Now the commission agent will have to bear the loss, the government has been purchasing very little. Private houses are raising wheat and the commission agent sells the wheat to the government.
More profit from selling private houses
He told that we get a rate of Rs 45 per quintal, if we sell wheat to private houses then we get an increase of Rs 56 per quintal. There is shortage of sheds in the market. The government should build four or five more sheds to protect the crops from rain.
