According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry in Punjab for the next 4 days. Due to which the department has issued an alert of dense fog for 4 days in Punjab and Haryana. Even today there is dense fog in Punjab and Haryana. Due to this, visibility reached zero at many places.
Today, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of cold wave with fog in both the states. According to the department, the weather will be bad in 5 districts of Punjab. Red alert has been issued in Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Firozpur, Ludhiana and Patiala. Orange alert has been issued in other districts.
Seven districts of Punjab affected by fog
The day temperature was 9 degrees in Gurdaspur, 10 in Amritsar, 10.2 in Bathinda, 11.2 in Nawanshahr (SBS Nagar), 11.8 in Firozpur, 11.7 in Moga and 11.8 degrees Celsius in Ropar. Skymet Weather Vice President (Meteorology and Climate Change) Mahesh said that winter may last a little longer this time. The icy grip of winter will remain on North India for now.
Flights are also being affected
Many flights took off late from Amritsar airport. The flight to Malaysia was delayed by 20 hours. The Dubai flight also departed three and a half hours late. On Tuesday, Nanded Sahib-bound Sachkhand Express and Amritsar-Jayanagar Express were cancelled. At the same time, due to fog, five flights had to be cancelled from Chandigarh Airport.
