Dense fog blanketed Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday morning. Due to which visibility in other places including Bathinda and Jalandhar remained from zero to 10 meters. Western disturbance is becoming active from today. Due to this, light to moderate rain may occur in different districts of Punjab and Haryana from today. This sequence of rains will continue till February 3.
Chance of rain on Wednesday and Thursday
There is rain alert in 6 districts of Punjab today. According to Dr. AK Singh, Senior Scientist of Chandigarh Meteorological Center, there will be rain today in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, and adjoining districts of Himachal. Whereas there is a possibility of rain in entire Punjab on Wednesday and Thursday. This rain will benefit all crops including wheat.
There will be relief from fog and dry cold in Punjab
Rain in Punjab is going to provide relief from fog and dry cold. The fog which has been sitting heavily in Punjab for the last one month can be dispelled by the rains.
Damage to crops
Crops have suffered a lot due to fog. The crops have been burnt. There has been no rain in Punjab since mid-December. However, rain will increase the cold and shivering. On the other hand, on Monday, there was fog in many districts of Punjab from 8.30 to 9 in the morning and after that the sun came out.
It will rain in these districts of Haryana
According to the Meteorological Department, between January 31 and February 5, there may be light to moderate rain with strong wind in Panchkula, Panipat, Sirsa, Hisar, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Fatehabad, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Jind. An increase of 2 degrees Celsius has been observed in the temperature of the state. There is a possibility of dry weather in Haryana today.
Snowfall warning in Himachal
A warning of snowfall along with rain has also been issued in Himachal Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy snowfall at different places in Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts on January 31. According to the department, due to continuous WD, there will be snowfall and rain in the hilly state for two to three days in the beginning of February.
