The state government has given time till November 26 for lifting paddy from grain markets in Punjab. The government has said that the crop should be lifted from the mandis in any case. Lifting should be ensured within 72 hours of crop purchase. Actually, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had issued strict orders in this matter. At the same time, now the Food and Civil Supplies Department has sent a letter to the agencies in this regard.
In the letter, it has been clearly told to the agencies that the crop should be lifted from the mandis by November 26 in any case. Lifting should be ensured within 72 hours of crop purchase. So that the farmers do not have to face any problem.
So far 165.77 lakh tonnes of paddy has reached the mandis
So far 165.77 lakh tonnes of paddy has reached the mandis of the state. In this, 163.36 lakh tonnes of paddy has been purchased. Whereas out of the purchased crop, 141.92 lakh tonnes have been lifted. About 22 lakh tonnes of crop is yet to be lifted from the mandis. However, procurement agencies are still working in the mandis.
Central and Punjab governments face to face
Let us tell you that Punjab and the Central government were face to face regarding the lifting of paddy. After which this matter reached the High Court. The court had ordered both the governments to settle the matter by holding a meeting.
