Today, i.e. 21st November is important in this regard. On this day, the first postage stamp of independent India was issued. Its value was so much that now that currency has stopped circulating.
After the country got independence on 15 August 1947, the government of independent India issued its first postage stamp on this day. Today's generation will not be able to understand but its price was fixed at three and a half annas. This postage stamp issued in the name of 'Jai Hind' had a picture of the tricolour fluttering in the middle, while its price i.e. three and a half annas was written in English on the left side. 'India' was written just below the tricolour and 15 August 1947 was written next to the tricolour.
