To deal with this problem, the Commissionerate Police, in collaboration with Corporation Commissioner Aditya, has created four zones in the city. Where 15 places have been identified for street vendors. The main need of the hour is to find a permanent solution to the ongoing traffic problem in Jalandhar.
Zero tolerance policy has been adopted regarding encroachment
The Police Commissioner said that this roadmap is a positive step towards reducing traffic congestion. Which will improve the quality of life of citizens by reducing travel time. A special drive has been launched to eliminate illegal encroachments and streamline traffic in Jalandhar city. To achieve this goal, a policy of zero tolerance towards encroachment has been adopted.
All facilities will be available in the wedding zone
The Police Commissioner said that 15 vending points have been set up in four designated locations in the city, which will provide street vendors a new place to operate. All necessary facilities including water and electricity will be provided to the hawkers in the vending zone and Emergency Response Support (ERS) will conduct regular patrolling to ensure the safety of the area.

He further said that to shift the vehicles, the city has been divided into four zones, which include Transport Nagar Industrial Area (Focal Point Mandi), Bhagat Singh Colony, Maqsudan Bridge, Sodhal Mandir to Mazaar Side Green Belt near Kali Mandir Road, These include Lamma Pind Chowk (truck parking) near Chara Mandi, Guru Gobind Singh Avenue Market, Verka Chowk and Beant Singh Park near Laddewali, the focal point.
Commissioner Swapan Sharma said that 480 street vendors were transported to Transport Nagar Industrial Area (Focal Point Mandi), 320 to Bhagat Singh Colony Maqsudan Bridge (LHS), 72 from Sodhal Mandir to Mazar Side Green near Kali Mandir Road on Bypass Road.
Similarly, 70 will be shifted to Lam Pind Chowk near Chara Mandi (Truck Parking), 20 to Guru Gobind Singh Avenue Market, 540 to Verka Chowk to Focal Point near Beant Singh Park and 196 to Ladhewali.
He further informed that 184 street vendors will be shifted to PIMS Hospital in front of Chhoti Baradari Phase-01. Similarly, new vendors will be shifted towards Vihar Colony in front of PPR Mall and Urban Estate Phase-2. At other places, new vendors will be shifted to Chhoti Baradari Phase-01 near Taj Restaurant Market.
Swapan Sharma said that 400 street vendors will be shifted near Kapurthala Road Irrigation Department Parking, 560 near Chik-Chik Chowk Ashoka Bakery (Milk Bar) and behind the park and 80 near Bhagat Singh Chowk near the water tank. . The new vendors will be shifted to Sudama Market near Jyoti Chowk.
