Once again Swapan Sharma has been made the Police Commissioner of Jalandhar. Before the elections, Swapan Sharma was the Police Commissioner of Jalandhar. In Ludhiana also, Kuldeep Chahal has been re-appointed as Police Commissioner.
Swapan Sharma was born in Kangra
Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Swapan Sharma has once again become the Police Commissioner of Jalandhar. Swapan Sharma was born on October 10, 1980 in Dhog village of Kangra district. His father Mahesh Chandra Sharma was a colonel in the army. Mother Veena Sharma is a housewife.
Passed UPSC exam in 2009
After graduating from Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering, Bathinda, Swapan Sharma cleared the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service exam in 2008. His first appointment was as Block Development Officer in Chaupal, Shimla. After working in a government job in Himachal for 9 months, Swapan Sharma passed the UPSC exam in 2009.
After completing Indian Police Service (IPS) training, Swapan Sharma chose Punjab cadre. After training, he was posted in Rajpura, Ludhiana and many other cities. He also stayed under the security of the Chief Minister of Punjab for ten months.
While holding different posts, he investigated fraud cases. Solved many complex cases. He was posted in Fazilka and Bathinda districts.He was posted twice as AIG Counter Intelligence in which he detected the activities of terrorists in the country and abroad.
Honored with Disc Award 4 times
While being SSP of Fazilka, Bathinda, Ropar, Sangrur, Jalandhar and Amritsar Rural, he conducted campaigns against liquor smugglers and gangsters. His strictness against gangsters also became a topic of discussion.
The DGP of Punjab Police honored him with the Disc Award 4 times for his excellent service. On 24 January 2023, he was promoted to the post of DIG in the Punjab Government.
