Lok Sabha Elections 2024- Chennai Central is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies of Tamil Nadu. There are 39 parliamentary seats in the state. The Chennai Central seat consists of six assembly constituencies including Villivakkam, Egmore, Harbour, Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni, Thousand Lights and Anna Nagar. This constituency is a general seat and is not reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) are the main parties in the constituency. DMK leader Murasoli Maran represented the constituency three times in 1996, 1998 and 1999. His son Dayanidhi Maran won the seat in 2004, 2009 and 2019.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, DMK candidate Dayanidhi Maran won the seat for the third time by a margin of 3,01,520 votes. He received 4,48,911 votes with 57.13% vote share. He defeated Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) candidate SR Sam Paul, who received 1,47,391 votes (18.76 per cent). Paul was supported by AIADMK and BJP. The total number of valid votes was 7,85,450. Makkal Needhi Mayam (MNM) candidate Kameela Nasir stood third with 92,249 votes (11.74 per cent).
In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, AIADMK candidate SR Vijayakumar won the seat for his party for the first time. He received 3,33,296 votes with 40.88 percent vote share. DMK candidate and sitting MP Dayanidhi Maran received 2,87,455 votes (35.26 percent) and was the runner-up. Vijayakumar defeated Maran by a margin of 45,841 votes.The total number of valid votes cast in constituency C was 8,14,894. Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMK) candidate J Constantin Raveendran came third with 1,14,798 votes (14.08 per cent) and Congress candidate CD Meiyappan came fourth with 25,981 votes (3.19 per cent).
