Punjab Industry and Commerce Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is working with full seriousness and commitment for the progress of the state's industries. He hoped that due to industry-friendly policies, the industrial area of Punjab will soon grow twofold and set new standards of success. He said that the state government is fully committed to the progress of Punjab's industries.
More than 86 thousand crore rupees of investment came in Punjab
In the program Punjab Ka Industry Vikas Ke Vichaar organized by Vikramjit Singh Sahni, Rajya Sabha Member, head of Vishwa Punjabi Sanstha at Punjab University, Tarunpreet Singh Saund said that the industrial policy of Punjab will be updated according to time so that the industrial development of the state can get more momentum. He said that in the last two and a half years, more than 86 thousand crore rupees of investment has come in Punjab and efforts have been intensified to take it further.
55 thousand I.T. Professionals will get job opportunities
He said that there is a plan to implement Punjab's new IT policy soon, under which Mohali will emerge as the new IT hub of North India. He said that after the implementation of this policy, about 55 thousand IT professionals will get job opportunities. Saund said that in the recent past, representatives and teams of many IT companies have met him and shown interest in setting up companies in Punjab, especially Mohali.
Proposal to develop 5 cities as role models
Saund said that several reforms are being carried out to make Punjab a leader in the national industrial map. He said that following the demand and suggestion of industrialists, a plan is underway to equip the focal points of the state with world-class facilities. In the first phase, it is proposed to develop focal points of 5 cities as role models.
Expressing happiness over the success of the "Invest Punjab" portal, he said that about 58 thousand small and medium industries have registered on it, which is a record in itself. He said that while efforts are being made to establish new industries in Punjab, new doors of progress are being opened by providing better facilities and support to the existing industries.
On this occasion, Saund also presented his views on the plan to promote the tourism sector in Punjab on a large scale. Saund is also the minister of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. He said that along with religious tourism, other areas and places are also being promoted as tourism in Punjab. He also presented his views regarding plans to focus on agriculture-based industries.
Talking about the cleaning of Buda Nallah after the issue was raised by a wise listener, Saund said the plan for cleaning of Buda Nallah in Ludhiana is in its final stage and will be implemented soon after the chief minister's approval.
Earlier, School Education, Technical Education and Industrial Training and Information and Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains said new courses in technical education are being introduced as per the demand of the industries. He said a number of courses are currently being run in Punjab with the objective of providing certification to skilled workers.
India's progress is not possible without Punjab's progress
He thanked Rajya Sabha member Vikramjit Singh Sahni for preparing the blueprint of Punjab Vision 2047 and said that such programmes are very necessary keeping the future in mind. Mentioning the specialties of Punjab, he said that India's progress is not possible without Punjab's progress.
Bains said that shortcomings can be removed only by sitting together and discussing. He also appealed to all the industrialists to set up new industries in Anandpur Sahib constituency and assured his full support.
