Om Birla has been re-elected as Lok Sabha speaker for the second time. Protem Speaker Bhartrihari Mahtab declared him the winner by voice vote. After which PM Modi and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi took him to Asandi. PM Narendra Modi came to drop the new speaker to Asandi. Earlier, PM Modi had proposed his name.
Om Birla is the first BJP leader to become the speaker for the second time. Before this, Balram Jakhar of Congress has been the speaker for two consecutive terms.

Became MLA for three consecutive terms
Om Birla has been winning every election continuously since 2003. In the year 2003, he contested and won the first assembly elections from Kota. After this, in 2008, he won the assembly elections by defeating Shanti Dhariwal of Congress from Kota South seat. He also won the third assembly election from Kota South in 2013.
Contested Lok Sabha elections for the first time in 2014
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP fielded the candidate from Om Birla Kota parliamentary seat. After winning the election, he resigned from the membership of the Assembly. In 2019, Birla was again elected MP and this time BJP surprised everyone by making him Speaker. Although he did not have long parliamentary experience, the way he ran the Lok Sabha was praised by everyone. After registering victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Birla has once again become a contender for the Lok Sabha Speaker.
