Maruti Suzuki made-in-India SUV in Japan market: Made in India Maruti Jimny 5-door has entered Japan. Jimny was first introduced in India at the Auto Expo 2023. In the financial year 2024-25, it has become the second most exported model of Maruti Suzuki. The 5-door Jimny is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki's manufacturing facility in Gurugram, Haryana. Talking about Jimny, it has a strong base as a global off-roader. Jimny is exported to about 100 countries. The launch of this 4WD SUV in Japan is an important milestone in Maruti Suzuki's export journey.

Speaking on the occasion, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, "The launch of the 'Made in India' Jimny 5-door in Japan is a proof of our excellent manufacturing capability. This is our second model to be exported to Japan this fiscal (FY 2024-25) after the export of the Front in August 2024. Jimny is the second most exported Maruti Suzuki car during FY 2024-25.

This car has received tremendous success in markets like Mexico, Australia and South Africa. Given this, we are confident that it will also be successful in winning the hearts of customers in Japan. Jimny's legacy is more than half a century old. It is a well-known model worldwide. Suzuki has sold more than 35 lakh units of Jimny in 199 countries and regions worldwide.
5-door version Jimny's popularity will increase
The 3-door version of Jimny was already available for sale in the Japanese market. The company believes that the 5-door version will further increase the popularity of Jimny in Japan. With India as the major production center for Jimny 5-door, Suzuki aims to leverage Maruti Suzuki's global production level to meet the growing demand for the iconic off-roader brand.
This is the export performance of Maruti Suzuki in 2024
India's top passenger vehicle exporter Maruti Suzuki shipped over 3.23 lakh vehicles to around 100 countries in the calendar year 2024. The company's share in India's total passenger vehicle exports in the calendar year 2024 is 43.5%. Maruti Suzuki started exporting Fronts to Japan in August 2024, it has received a great response in the market there.
