There will no longer be a need for long queues at toll plazas. Toll collection will be done by identifying the car through satellite based toll system. Initially, both fastag and satellite system will be available, but gradually the entire system will be transferred to satellite. The Ministry of Road Transport has amended the National Highway Fee Rules, 2008.
No Long Queues
You must have seen long queues at toll plazas earlier. After this, the fastag is entered and the long queues of cars also reduce. But now a system has come where there is no need to stand in the queue. You just have to take the car straight and the money will be deducted from your account automatically. Actually, it has been named satellite based toll system. There will be no need to scan the fastag in this and toll collection will be done by identifying the car with the help of satellite.
Satellite toll collection
FASTag will not be abolished now. Initially, both FASTag and satellite system will be available. But then gradually the entire system will be transferred to satellite only. This decision has been taken by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The National Highway Fee Rules, 2008 have been amended by the ministry. Electronic toll collection has also been included in it. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the satellite toll collection system.
How will it work?
For satellite based toll collection system, the driver of a car or any other vehicle will not need to stop at the toll plaza. Money will be deducted automatically with the help of the system installed in the car. Preparations are being made for this. At present, no official announcement has been made regarding the closure of Fastag. Suppose you are going on a road or highway where toll is charged, then money will be deducted from your account automatically based on the location there. That means now you do not need to stop to pay toll. That means this is a completely automatic system which works in a completely different way. In this you do not need to stop anywhere.
