There is severe cold (cold wave) in many parts of the country. There is snowfall on the mountains, the effect of which is also seen in Punjab, Haryana including the country's capital Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an alert of heavy rain and cold wave in different parts of the country. The minimum temperature in Punjab remains between 2 to 8 degrees, which is about 2 degrees below normal.
Yellow alert issued till December 15
Cold wave has affected Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala and Asgar in Punjab. Due to which a yellow alert has been issued here till December 15.
Severe cold has started in Haryana. The mercury is moving towards freezing point in Hisar, Narnaul, Bhiwani and Sirsa bordering Rajasthan. Frost has started forming in these areas. There is no hope of relief from cold in the coming days.
Yellow alert of cold wave in 17 cities
The Meteorological Department has today issued a yellow alert of cold wave in 17 cities of the state. This may lead to further drop in night temperature. These districts include Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurugram, Mewat, Palwal, Faridabad, Rohtak, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri.
