Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann administered oath to new Panchs in Sangrur district of Punjab on Tuesday. During this, CM Bhagwant Mann appealed to the newly elected Panchayats to work as a motivator to transform their villages into 'modern development centers', which will give impetus to the economy of the state.
Distribute development works on priority basis
Addressing a gathering before administering the oath of office to the newly elected Panchs of Sangrur district, the Chief Minister said that the Panchayats should distribute the development works of their villages on priority basis so that the state government can start the work. CM Mann said that the Panchayats should pass resolutions for the overall development of the villages for which the state government will support them in every effort. He asked the newly elected Panchs to take new steps to ensure the progress and prosperity of the villagers as well as to transform their villages into centers of development.
Panchs of 19 districts were sworn in
The CM said that Gram Panchayats are the foundation of the democratic system and it is a historic occasion to administer the oath of office to the newly elected Panchs. He informed that similar programs are being organized in 19 districts of the state today. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that 10,031 new Sarpanchs of the state were sworn in during a ceremony held in Ludhiana on November 8.
Will not let there be any shortage of funds in the villages
CM Mann said that it is a matter of pride to be elected by the public as it shows the trust and honesty of the people towards the leader. He said that this is a big responsibility, which is entrusted by the public on these leaders, as it is a great task of serving the public. Bhagwant Singh Mann assured the newly-elected Panchs that there will be no shortage of funds for development works in the villages.
Rural libraries are being established
The CM said that the state government is setting up rural libraries, which will become the center of development and prosperity of the state. The aim of this exemplary initiative is to promote the habit of reading among the youth. He said that villages should also pass resolutions to establish such libraries, as this step will prove to be helpful in empowering the youth and ensuring their participation in the socio-economic development of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these libraries will be helpful in changing the future of the youth and making doctors, scientists, officers and other skilled personalities in the society.
Libraries will be equipped with modernity
CM Mann said that these libraries are equipped with Wi-Fi, solar power, digital facilities and high-level services. He said that world-class literature and course related books are available in these libraries, which provide wonderful opportunities for knowledge acquisition. The CM said that these libraries are a treasure trove of knowledge and literature. He said that it is a matter of pride for all of us that in these libraries, precious books on various subjects are available, which attract book lovers.
Give priority to ending factionalism
The Chief Minister said that in democracy, the person or party that gets the majority is victorious, but the elected Panchayats are the partners of the entire village. He appealed to the Panchs to treat all the villagers equally, take fair decisions and give priority to ending factionalism from the villages. He said that many development works get hampered due to factionalism, which is unfortunate.
It is our duty to make villages clean and green
CM Mann appealed to everyone to plant maximum trees to renovate the villages of the state by starting a creative environment to plant as many trees as possible. He said that it is everyone's responsibility to make Punjab clean, green and pollution free. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that on one hand the environment of the state has to be improved and on the other hand it is necessary to stop pollution.
Decisions related to development should be taken in the assemblies
The CM asked the Panchs to call meetings of their respective Gram Panchayats to take every decision with collective consent to ensure transparency in development works. He said that decisions related to the development of villages should be taken in the Gram Sabhas so that the funds can be used properly. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that if the Panchayats fulfill their responsibilities honestly, they can change the picture of the villages.
Use modern facilities
The CM called upon the Panchayats to work with enthusiasm and commitment and appealed to make their villages ideal by ensuring modern facilities for all. He said that the Panchayats should fulfill their responsibilities for the welfare of the villages with honesty and transparency. He appealed to the Panchayats to take every decision in consultation with the villagers so that a big role can be played in the all-round development of the villages.
3000 Panchayats were elected unanimously
The CM told the villages that unanimously elected Panchayats that on one hand these villages have strengthened the spirit of mutual harmony and brotherhood, while on the other hand, they have unanimously elected Panchayats by rising above factionalism to ensure comprehensive development.
He said that the wise voters of these villages have entrusted a big responsibility on the Panchayats and it should be fulfilled with full devotion and dedication. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he is grateful to the voters of the state who participated in these elections freely and fairly with full enthusiasm.
