In Amritsar today, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee demonstrated by throwing wheat on the roads from tractors. Throwing wheat on the roads, farmers reached the DC office and threw wheat there too. Farmers say that companies are buying from them at cheap rates and it is being sold at high prices in the market.
Sarwan Singh Pandher said that efforts are being made to mislead farmers by calling it a good step to connect the agricultural market to the economy. The rate of Basmati for farmers is between 2 thousand to 24 hundred, whereas last year the rate of the same crop was between 3500-4000 rupees, due to which every farmer suffers a direct loss of 25-30 thousand.
He said that in this way today the production has been looted by giving cheap prices, but those who buy Basmati rice from the market have to buy it at a high price. The Punjab government had claimed that if the rate of Basmati is reduced to less than 3200 rupees, then the Punjab government will make up for this loss, but in such a situation no statement is being given by the Punjab government.
