India and US have discussed co-production of American Javelin missiles in India to meet the requirements of the Indian Army. The discussion on joint production of Javelin missiles took place during a recent high-level visit of US officials to India. This is the same missile, which has caused tremendous damage to the Russian army in the Ukraine war.
India and the US are discussing expanding their cooperation, including joint production of military equipment. In this series, talks have been held between the top officials of both the countries on the production of Javelin missiles in India.

Javelin is an anti-tank guided missile, which can destroy any armoured vehicle.Javelin is an anti-tank missile made in America. This missile uses infrared technology to hit its target. The length of Javelin missile is 108.1 cm.Its effective range is said to be up to 2500 meters. After this the missile starts falling towards the ground due to gravity. The missile launcher weighs 22.3 kg including missile and is equipped with day/night vision sight.This becomes the dangerous missile for the enemy.
Effective Anti-tank guided Missile
America has been using Javelin missile since 1996. The US Army has used this missile in the Afghanistan War, Iraq War, Syria War and Libya War.It is a 'fire and forget' type weapon. This means that it locks its target even before firing and the self-guided missile destroys the enemy.India is also working rapidly on indigenous anti-tank guided missile. The Defence Research and Development Organisation has also conducted several trials of its Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MP-ATGM) to meet the requirements of the Army.The Indian Army has been searching for an effective anti-tank guided missile for a long time. To meet this requirement, the Army has purchased a limited number of Israeli Spike anti-tank guided missiles under emergency procurement.
