Now after completing 4 years graduation course, students will be able to do PhD. You will also be able to give NET exam. This information has been given by University Grant Commission i.e. UGC Chairman M Jagadish Kumar.
Graduation lane will be 75% marks
Actually, according to the new rule, now it is mandatory for the candidates to get at least 75% marks in their four years of graduation to do PHd with or without Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Let us tell you that earlier for NET, a candidate was required to have a Masters degree with at least 55% marks.
But now students can do NET and PHd with 75% marks in graduation. Let us also mention here that those candidates who have completed 3 years of graduation and have less than 75% marks in their graduation, can do NET-PHd by doing Masters with 55% score like before.
You can take different subjects for NET exam
Let us tell you about this, UGC Chairman said that now candidates with four-year graduate degree will be able to do PHd directly. You can also give NET exam. Apart from this, students are allowed to appear for NET exam for any subject, even if they have studied any other stream in graduation. Whereas for PHd or NET, only students with 75% marks in 4 years or 8 semester graduate degree course will be accepted.
Reservation candidates can avail relaxation of 5% marks
As per the decision of UGC, 5% relaxation will also be available for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, Divyang, Economically Weaker Section and other categories. However, UGC has not yet taken a complete decision on this.
