Terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa, hiding abroad, has been declared a fugitive by the special NIA court of Mohali. Now the process to confiscate his property has started in the court. This action has been taken under Section 82 (4) of CrPC.
In fact, NIA has filed FIR under sections 17, 18, 18B, 20 against Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa and his associates Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, Satnam Singh alias Satta, Parminder Singh Khaira alias Pattu, Yadvinder Singh alias Jada on charges of illegal activities. A case was registered under sections 38 and 39. This hearing started from 9 October 2023.
NIA had filed a petition in the court to declare the accused as fugitives. After the petition was filed, the court had given 30 days time to the accused to appear in the court, which has already passed. For this reason, while giving the verdict, the court has declared the accused Landa as a fugitive. At the same time, action has been initiated against all the accused to attach property under Section 83 of CrPC.
Who is lakhbir singh landa
Lakhbir Singh is a resident of Harike in Tarn Taran district of Punjab and currently lives in Edmonton city of Albert, Canada. He is associated with the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International. He has been involved in several criminal cases related to preparation of terrorist modules, extortion, murders, planting of IEDs, smuggling of arms and drugs and transaction of funds for terrorist acts in Punjab and other parts of the country.
Along with this, his associates have been involved in conspiracy to disturb the peace, law and order situation in Punjab by murders and extortions and other anti-national activities in different parts of the country.
