The Punjab government has cancelled the permits of 600 buses in the state. These permits were issued illegally. Due to which they are being cancelled. The buses whose permits have been cancelled also include the buses of the Badal family. This information has been given by Transport Minister Laljit Bhullar.
Illegal permits increased during Akali and Congress government
Minister Laljit Bhullar said that from 2007 to 2017, illegal permits were issued to these buses during the Akali and Congress government. The names of many big transport companies are also included in these. The permits of 30 percent of the buses of former Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, which were illegal, have been cancelled.
Action taken after investigation
The Transport Minister said that this entire action has been taken after investigation. After this action, small transporters will benefit and they will be able to run their buses again. There was illegal clubbing in the permits that were cancelled. Due to this, the government was also losing revenue. Almost all the transporters of the state are happy with this decision.
Seriousness shown on cases reaching the High Court
Many cases of illegal permits were reaching the Punjab and Haryana High Court. In such a situation, the government has taken this matter seriously. One of the main objectives of this action is to end the monopoly of big bus operators and prevent irregularities in the transport sector.
