Hindu organizations have intensified their protest against the demolition of illegal mosque in Himachal's capital Shimla. Hindu organizations read Hanuman Chalisa on the road in Shimla's Sanjauli and raised slogans in praise of Lord Ram. Seeing the protest turning violent, the police barricaded it. But it was broken by Hindu organizations.
Police resorted to lathicharge
After breaking the barricading, the police used lathicharge twice to stop the protesters. Along with this, water cannon was also used to push them back. After which stone pelting started from the side of the protesters. One policeman has been injured in this. While one protester has also been injured.
Many Hindu leaders detained, entire area under drone surveillance
In Sanjauli, the police have detained Kamal Gautam, leader of Hindu Jagran Manch. Hindu organizations claim that a dozen of their leaders have been arrested. The area is being monitored with drones. Movement has been stopped near Dhali tunnel.
This is the reason why the protest is being held
Actually, a mosque was built on Sanjauli Road in Shimla before independence. This mosque was constructed in 2010 and was made permanent. A complaint was lodged in the Municipal Corporation. The Municipal Corporation has issued orders to demolish the illegal construction 35 times. But despite this, the illegal construction of the mosque has not been demolished.
Recently, a person was beaten up by a particular community. Due to which Hindu organizations started demanding the demolition of the illegal construction of the mosque. They demonstrated in Sanjauli on September 1 and in Chaura Maidan on September 5.
After this, the 45th hearing was held in the Commissioner Court on 7 September. Here the Waqf Board submitted the ownership documents to the court. The court has fixed the hearing on October 5 in this case and has asked the concerned Junior Engineer (JE) to file a fresh status report.
Let us tell you that protests are being held not only in Shimla but also in Mandi and Kasamputi regarding the illegal mosque.
