Difficulties have increased for people planning to study and work in Canada. In fact, Canada has made its immigration rules stricter than ever before. Under the new rules, border and immigration officials will now be able to directly cancel temporary residence visas such as study and work permits. These changes have been implemented by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
New rules came into effect on 31 January
The new rules have come into effect from 31 January 2025. Under the new rules, officials can now also cancel Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) and Permanent Residence Visa (TRV) visas. Along with this, these rules have been published in Canada Gazette 2.
Permit can be canceled for this reason
If a person is ineligible or gives incorrect information or has a criminal record. Apart from this, now study and work permits can also be canceled under certain circumstances. A permit may also be revoked if the permit holder becomes a permanent resident of Canada, dies, or has an administrative error in his or her documents.
