Border dispute between Pakistan and Afghanistan
An imaginary Durand Line separates Pakistan and Afghanistan from each other. However, no government of Afghanistan has recognised this line as the actual border. Due to this there has always been tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan. After the return of Taliban to power in Afghanistan in the year 2021, Pakistan was hoping to get relief from the border dispute.
The Taliban not only adopted the previous stand regarding the border dispute, but it has also gone a step further and started staking its claim on the border areas. Taliban's establishment of security posts on the border is an extension of this claim. Taliban forces have also opposed the fencing of the border by Pakistan and there have been several clashes between the two regarding this.
