Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata on the morning of 10 February after complaining of chest pain. The latest update on the health of the 73-year-old actor has come out on Saturday evening. It has been revealed that Mithun had suffered a brain stroke (ischaemic cerebrovascular accident). The hospital has given this information by issuing an official statement. At present, doctors have given treatment to Mithun and he is under observation.
He is fully conscious
According to the report, Apollo Hospital made an official statement on Saturday evening in which they wrote, 'Mr. Mithun Chakraborty (73) was brought to the emergency department of the hospital at 9:40 am. He complained of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. After initial investigation and brain MRI, it was revealed that he had suffered a brain stroke (ischaemic cerebrovascular accident). At present, he is completely conscious and is taking a soft diet.Here a team of doctors including neuro-physician, cardiologist and gastroenterologist are taking care of him.
On Saturday, a video of Mithun from the hospital also went viral on social media. In this video, Mithun is seen lying on the hospital bed. Many people are standing around him. A photo of Mithun from the hospital bed has also gone viral.
Son and daughter-in-law had told about regular checkup
Earlier on Saturday, while talking to E Times, Mithun's son Mahaakshay Chakraborty said that father is absolutely fine. He had gone to the hospital only for regular checkup. Daughter-in-law Madalsa had also said that Mithun is absolutely fine and has thanked his fans for showing so much concern.
Recently received Padma Bhushan Award
Recently, Mithun's name came into discussion again when it was announced last month that he would be honored with the Padma Bhushan award. Apart from Mithun, it was also announced to give this award to singer Usha Uthup and actor Vijaykant.
Mithun's last release on the work front was the Bengali film 'Kabuliwala'. It was released in theatres in December 2023 and it remained in theatres for more than 50 days. Mithun's last Hindi film was 'The Kashmir Files'.
