A fire broke out in a baby care centre in Delhi's Shahdara Vivek Vihar area late Saturday night. About 12 children were rescued from the fire. However, 7 of these newborns died during treatment in the hospital, while 5 infants are admitted in the hospital. Out of which one child died in ICU on Sunday morning.
16 vehicles of fire department brought it under control
According to the information, at around 11.30 pm on Saturday night, Vivek Vihar Police Station received a PCR call about fire in New Born Baby Care Hospital and its adjacent building. After which 16 fire tenders and police reached the spot and after a lot of effort the fire was controlled.
Oxygen cylinder burst due to fire
DFS chief Atul Garg said that the cause of the fire is not yet known. Many oxygen cylinders kept inside the hospital also exploded in the fire. Rajesh, a fire official, said two buildings were affected by the fire, a hospital building and two floors of a residential building.
Baby care centre built in 120 yard building
According to Delhi Fire Department, the baby care centre is built in a 120-yard building. 12 children were rescued from the first floor, out of which 7 died in the hospital and 5 are still admitted. The cause of the fire has not been known yet.
