Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha has expressed displeasure over the unbridled increase in fares by flight companies during the ongoing Mahakumbh fair in Prayagraj. He has called it a tampering with the faith of the devotees and has demanded immediate action from the government.
According to MP Raghav Chadha, Mahakumbh is the biggest festival of faith and spirituality for the followers of Sanatan Dharma. In this rare coincidence, when the Mahakumbh is being organized in Prayagraj after 144 years, millions of devotees wish to reach Teerthraj Prayagraj from the country and abroad for bathing, meditation and penance. But these flight companies are considering this holy event as an opportunity to earn unfair profits. The arbitrariness and profiteering of flight companies have increased the troubles of the devotees.
Huge increase in flight fares
MP Raghav Chadha said that the flight fare which used to be between Rs 5000 to Rs 8000 on normal days, has increased to Rs 50000 to Rs 60000 during the Maha Kumbh. He said, "This is like robbing the devotees on this great festival of faith and purity. Lakhs of devotees, who wanted to attend the Maha Kumbh, are getting disappointed due to these increased fares."
Targeting the flight companies, Raghav Chadha said, "These companies are doing injustice in the pursuit of profit. There can be no greater religion than serving the devotees. He has called it an insult to faith and religion. In such a situation, it is necessary to pay immediate attention to this issue."
Appeal to the government for action
MP Raghav Chadha has urged the government to stop the arbitrariness of these flight companies and provide the devotees an opportunity to travel at affordable rates. He said, "Earlier when we raised the issue of looting of passengers in airport cafes, the government listened to us and arranged for food at affordable prices for the passengers by arranging "Udaan Canteen" at affordable prices. Similarly, devotees should also be given relief during the Maha Kumbh. He said, "There is no greater religion than serving the devotees. It is the responsibility of the government to take immediate action on this issue."
He also said that the government should take such steps, which can provide relief to the passengers in the coming times as well and make events like Maha Kumbh accessible to all.
