Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Ludhiana West Gurpreet Bassi Gogi died after being shot in his house. The incident happened around 12 o'clock at night. According to the police, Gogi was cleaning his licensed pistol when suddenly a bullet was fired. The bullet passed through his head. He was taken to Dayanand Medical Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
ADCP Jaskaran Singh Teja said that the pistol was of 25 bore. It would be premature to say under what circumstances the MLA died. Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal and Police Commissioner Kuldeep Chahal reached the hospital. Later the officers also reached Gogi's house.
Wife was in the kitchen when the shot was fired
Party's Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balveer Singh Seechewal was in Ludhiana on Friday. Gogi met him at Budha Dariya on Friday evening and participated in many other programs. The servant cooked food for Gogi but suddenly the sound of a gunshot came from his room.
When his wife, son and servant reached the room, he was lying on the floor soaked in blood. The family called the security. Everyone took him to the hospital. DMC doctors started treatment, but after some time the doctors informed the family that he was dead.

Party state president Aman Arora reached Gogi's house at 4:30 in the morning. Aman Arora said that Gogi's family and the party have suffered a huge loss. Gogi was a very hardworking leader. His condolences are with the family.
In the 2022 assembly elections, Gogi was an MLA from Ludhiana's West assembly constituency. He defeated Congress candidate former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Gogi got around 40 thousand votes.
