The problems of Canada's Justin Trudeau government have increased. Jagmeet Singh, leader of his ally party NDP, has announced not to support Trudeau. Jagmeet Singh has accused Trudeau of ignoring the middle class. In the video shared on social media, Jagmeet Singh has appealed to the people to support him.
Jagmeet Singh said he has informed the Prime Minister of his decision, and said the Liberals are "too weak, too selfish" to fight for Canadians.
Two and a half years ago, the Liberal minority government of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had signed an agreement with the New Democratic Party (NDP) to remain in power till 2025. In return, the Liberals were supported by the left-wing NDP on many of the party's major priorities in parliament.
Trudeau then said he believed the agreement would provide "stability" to Canadians. The agreement – which he called a “supply and confidence” agreement – begins today and will continue until the end of Canada's current Parliament in 2025.
While Trudeau said the two parties would disagree in some areas, he said he had identified some key policy areas in which they have similar objectives, including health care, housing and the environment.
However, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has ruled out a formal deal with the Liberals in 2021, but said he is willing to support Mr. Trudeau.
Jagmeet Singh then said that his party views the agreement as the best way to "help people", particularly when it comes to developing a national dental care program and a national prescription drug program for low-income Canadians. And also on issues like climate and housing.
He said the NDP would continue to oppose Mr. Trudeau's government if necessary and would carefully monitor the outcome of the agreement.
