The interim government of Bangladesh will be headed by Professor Muhammad Yunus. Mohammad Yunus is known as a vocal critic of the policies of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League government. Yunus was awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for developing the microcredit market.
Interim Government will have 15 members
Three days after Sheikh Hasina's resignation from the post of PM and dissolution of the cabinet, a new interim government is going to be formed in Bangladesh. The new government to be led by Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus is likely to have 15 members. Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar uz Zaman has said that the swearing-in ceremony of the interim government will be held at 8 pm on Thursday, which will be attended by around 400 dignitaries. The Army Chief said that the Army will provide every possible help to Yunus in running the government.
The Army Chief indicated that currently 15 members are included in the interim government but did not disclose the names other than Mohammad Yunus. The General also did not give any information on how long the tenure of this interim government would be and what would be the political direction of the country going forward. On the situation in the country, he definitely said that the situation is improving rapidly and the situation will become normal within the next three to four days.
Yunus will take oath after talking to the army chief
Army Chief Waqar himself had informed about Sheikh Hasina's resignation and leaving the country on Monday. After this, on Tuesday night, President Mohammad Shahabuddin had agreed to the proposal of student organizations to make Professor Yunus the head of the interim government. Since then, it was waiting to see when the new government would take charge and bring the current situation under control. On Wednesday, General Waqar spoke to Professor Yunus and the oath taking ceremony was fixed for Thursday evening.

Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, who is going to lead the interim government of Bangladesh, is an economist and banker. He was awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for his work developing microcredit markets. Yunus was praised for bringing thousands of people out of poverty through Grameen Bank, which he founded in 1983.This bank provides small loans to those businessmen who do not qualify for regular bank loans. However, Yunus's relationship with Sheikh Hasina's government was quite strained.
