11 cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) have been found in the country. Today 2 cases have been reported, taking the total number of HMPV virus cases in the country to 11. The first case is from Uttar Pradesh. A 60-year-old woman has been found positive in Lucknow. At the same time, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has issued an advisory for the people of the state. He said that people have been appealed to wear masks before leaving the house.
No need to panic, we are ready
Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that there is no need to be afraid or panic about this virus. No case of this has been reported in Punjab yet. The state government is in touch with the Center regarding this disease and is ready to deal with any situation arising from it.
What is HMPV virus?
This virus can cause upper and lower respiratory diseases in people of all ages. However, young children, older adults and people with weak immune systems are particularly vulnerable to it. HMPV was discovered in 2001.
Its symptoms
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the symptoms of the virus are similar to other viral infections that occur in the winter season. The most important symptoms of HMPV virus in China are - cough, fever, nasal congestion, difficulty in breathing.
Preventive measures
To prevent this, whenever you come home, wash your hands thoroughly with soap. Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands. Maintain distance from infected people, if you are feeling symptoms similar to the virus then isolate yourself. While sneezing, cover your mouth with your hand or something. Avoid sharing cups and eating utensils with infected people. Stay at home if you are sick.
