PM-Kusum Yojana is a very important scheme for agricultural development. Earlier, for irrigation, farmers were dependent only on pumps operated by fossil fuel or grid electricity which cause pollution and financial burden. PM-KUSUM scheme promotes installation of solar pumps which benefits both agriculture and environment.
Farmers have to pay the remaining amount
Subsidy is provided to the farmers to install these pumps. Farmers can get subsidy for installing 3 and 5 HP solar pumps. The government gives 60% subsidy and the remaining amount has to be paid by the farmers. For example, farmers get a subsidy of up to ₹ 2.38 lakh for installing solar pumps.
₹1.14 lakh subsidy on ₹2.15 lakh price
According to the Agriculture Department, the price of 3 HP solar pump is approximately ₹ 2.15 lakh, of which a subsidy of ₹ 1.14 lakh is available. The cost of 5 HP solar pump is approximately ₹3.05 with a subsidy of ₹1.76 lakh provided. The cost for 7.5 HP solar pump is ₹4.53 lakh on which the subsidy provided is ₹2.38 lakh.
Farmers are eligible for 60% subsidy
General and OBC category farmers are eligible for 60% subsidy. The scheme aims to install 2,000 solar pumps of 7.5 HP and 10 HP. Today, farmers who are dependent on fossil fuel-powered pumps for irrigation can avail huge benefits by switching to solar pumps under this scheme.
Scheme available for farmers of Rajasthan
This scheme is available for the farmers of Rajasthan. Interested farmers can apply through the state's Raj Kisan Sathi portal. For more information, they can contact their nearest Horticulture Department office. Under this scheme, farmers can install solar pumps on their barren lands and can also increase their agricultural productivity.
