Farmers standing on the Shambhu border between Punjab and Haryana have announced their march to Delhi. After the meeting in Chandigarh, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that farmers will march to Delhi as soon as the border opens. The barricading on the Shambhu border has not been removed at present. The Haryana government is waiting for the decision of the Supreme Court.
Let us tell you that on July 10, Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered to open the border within 7 days. Today is its last day. Farmers have been sitting on strike since February 2024 at Shambhu and Khannauri border.
Farmers started reaching the border
Groups of farmers from many districts of Punjab have started reaching Khanauri border near Jind and Shambhu border near Ambala to march to Delhi. There is 6 months' worth of ration in these tractor-trolleys. Tractor-trolleys are being prepared by holding meetings in the villages of Haryana.
Investigation into Shubhakaran's death handed over to Haryana Police
Dallewal said that the investigation into the death of farmer Shubhakaran has been handed over to Jhajjar Police Commissioner, an officer of Haryana Police. This is a big injustice to us. He said that the commission was formed by the High Court under the leadership of a retired judge. At that time the Haryana government went to the High Court. There he demanded to stop the investigation.
Dallewal said that it clearly means that it was he who did the firing. It was he who injured our farmer and martyred us. He went to the Supreme Court to ensure that he was not investigated properly.
We will go only to Ram Leela Maidan
The farmer leader also said that we will go to Ram Leela Maidan in Delhi. We have no other intention. Wherever the government stops us, it will be the responsibility of the government. Our movement will continue until the government fulfills the promises made to us. These are not our demands, these are promises made by the government.
