Five policemen were killed in a blast in a police vehicle in Pakistan on Monday. The incident occurred in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There is news of 22 people being injured in this blast. According to Pakistani media Dawn, the policemen were going to provide security to polio teams as part of the vaccination campaign. Information about how the explosion occurred is not yet available.
This attack was carried out targeting the police protection team. Five policemen were killed and more than 20 people were injured in this IED blast. The place where the police team was targeted is Mamund area of Bajaur and this area is adjacent to the border of Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent of Khar District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Dr Wazir Khan Safi said that out of the 22 injured, 12 are being treated at the hospital, while 10 others who were seriously injured have been referred to Peshawar Medical Facility.
