Aam Aadmi Party MP from Delhi Sanjay Singh will take oath in Rajya Sabha today. Recently he was allowed to take oath by a Delhi court. Jail officers will also go with them to Parliament House. Let us tell you that Sanjay Singh is in jail in a money laundering case related to Delhi Liquor Policy.
Whip issued to BJP MLAs
Today the Prime Minister will reply to the President's address in the Lok Sabha. Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party has issued a whip to its Lok Sabha MPs asking them to stay in the House.
Let us tell you that Sanjay Singh had sought interim bail from 4 to 10 February to attend the Parliament session.
Time to take oath
Special Judge MK Nagpal of Rouse Avenue Court had issued a notice to ED on Sanjay Singh's application and asked it to file its reply by February 3. Sanjay Singh had said that he also has to take the oath of membership of Rajya Sabha. While hearing this petition, the court refused to grant him interim bail but gave him time to take the oath.
An arrest was made in this case
Let us inform that ED has alleged that Sanjay Singh played an important role in the formulation and implementation of Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, which led to economic benefits to some liquor manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers. However, on the other hand, the state government has suffered huge financial losses due to this policy.
Singh has denied the allegations. AAP has alleged that its leaders are being targeted for political reasons. However, on December 22 last year, the court had rejected the bail plea of Sanjay Singh saying that he was linked to crime income of Rs 2 crore and the case against him was genuine.
