Today Budget 2024 has been presented. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has asked to increase work on infrastructure to promote electric vehicles. He said our government will expand and strengthen the electric vehicle ecosystem by promoting manufacturing and charging infrastructure.
The whole world is considering electric vehicles as the future of mobility, but in India this future of mobility does not seem practical at present. Actually, the infrastructure for electric vehicles is not very good.
Adoption of e-buses will be promoted
Apart from this, he also talked about promoting the adoption of e-buses. Nirmala Sitharaman said that more and more adoption of e-buses in the public transport network will be encouraged. For this, help of payment security mechanism will be taken.
Electric vehicles are still expensive in India
Price: Electric vehicles are still more expensive than ICE vehicles. The reason for this is that the battery is an expensive component in electric vehicles.
Charging Infrastructure: Charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in India is still underdeveloped. That is, electric vehicle owners face problems in charging during long journeys.
Range: The range of electric vehicles is still less than that of ICE vehicles. That is, electric vehicle owners need quick charging but there is a shortage of charging stations.
As Nirmala Sitharaman said, work will be done to improve the charging infrastructure. If this happens, the adoption of electric vehicles in the country can also increase more rapidly. However, good growth is still being seen in the electric vehicle segment.
