The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Air India in the case of the death of an elderly person. In fact, recently an Air India passenger had to walk on foot after not getting a wheelchair at Mumbai airport, after which he died of a heart attack. This incident happened on 16 February. Let us tell you that the person who lost his life was 80 years old and had come to Mumbai from New York with his wife.
Elderly man came to Mumbai from New York with his wife
According to reports, an 80-year-old man had booked tickets for himself and his wife on an Air India flight from New York to Mumbai. While booking the ticket, he had also asked for wheelchair service. But, on reaching Mumbai airport, he could get only a wheelchair, which the old man had given to his wife. After which the old man himself walked about one and a half kilometres to the immigration counter and on reaching there he suddenly collapsed and later died.
Air India had given clarification on the matter
Air India had given clarification regarding the entire matter. The airline company had said that due to the huge demand for the wheelchair, they had asked the elderly passenger to wait. But he himself chose to walk by placing his wife in a wheelchair.
