In the second week of October, cold has started in the morning and evening in Punjab. Also, the night temperature has started falling. On Friday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 16 degrees Celsius in Pathankot, Rupnagar and Gurdaspur. It was two degrees Celsius below normal. At the same time, there is no possibility of any Western disturbance becoming active for the next one week.
Pollution level found above 100 AQI
The weather of the state has also started deteriorating since mid-October. By Saturday morning, the pollution level was found to be above 100 (Air Quality Index) AQI in most cities. The Pollution Board has placed it in the yellow category and it can prove fatal for people suffering from respiratory problems, asthma and heart disease.
On Saturday morning, the AQI was above 100 in most cities except Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala.
