A case has been registered against SHO Inspector Arshpreet Kaur Grewal and 2 other policemen in Moga, Punjab. These policemen are accused of helping opium smugglers. Police has currently registered a case against SHO Inspector Arshpreet Kaur Grewal, Munshi Gurpreet Singh and Munshi Rajpal Singh of Balkhandi Chowki, opium smugglers Manpreet Singh and Gurpreet Singh in this case.
Know what is the whole matter
SHO Arshpreet Kaur Grewal caught a drug smuggler at a check post on October 1. His name was Amarjit Singh and he was a resident of Daatewala Road in Kot Ise Khan. During the search, 2 kg of opium was recovered from the accused. SHO Arshdeep Kaur was accompanied by Munshi Gurpreet Singh of Kot Ise Khan police station and Munshi Rajpal Singh of Balkhandi Chowki in this operation. When they interrogated the accused, it was revealed that his son Gurpreet Singh and brother Manpreet Singh were also involved in drug smuggling with him.
Money offered to release the accused
3 kg opium was also recovered from them. However, the police registered a case of recovery of only 2 kg opium. Meanwhile, through some person, the accused smugglers contacted SHO Arshdeep Kaur and offered money to release the accused. After which the SHO demanded Rs 8 lakh. Out of this, the accused gave Rs 5 lakh to the inspector, which was divided among the clerks and SHO, and released 2 accused Gurpreet and Manpreet.
All three policemen suspended
The DSP has suspended all three policemen in this matter. Now the matter is being investigated. Also, raids are being conducted to catch the 2 accused Gurpreet and Manpreet who are absconding. Senior police officers are investigating the matter closely. Old records of the accused police personnel are also being searched.
