The work permits of Indian students in Canada are going to expire on 31 December 2024. According to the information, the permits of about 1.3 lakh students will expire on 31. After which they will have to return to their country. At the same time, students are protesting in Brampton against this situation. Most of the students are from Punjab.
Students are protesting since 29 August
Where they are demanding extension of Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP). They have been protesting since 29 August due to fear of deportation. They are raising their demands for extension of Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP), proper policy for permanent residence and against exploitation. This protest is led by Bikram Singh Kullewal of Nojawan Student Network (NSN), and it is also being supported by the Montreal Youth Students Organization (MYSO).
Work Permit will expire on 31 December
MYSO convenor Mandeep said that there is a danger for about 1.3 lakh students. Actually their work permits will expire on 31 December. Due to which they are seeking extension of work permit to stay in Canada. However, in the last one year, the strained relations between India and Canada have created unnecessary fear among immigrants and students.
Along with this, Mandeep said that the Indian government has failed to provide quality education and employment to the students, due to which the youth have no option left except going to Canada and other countries.
6 Canadian diplomats will leave India today
On the other hand, India had issued orders to 6 Canadian diplomats to leave the country. Who are going to leave the country today i.e. on 19 October. India and Canada are witnessing constant diplomatic confrontation. The Indian government had said that they should leave India before 11:59 pm on Saturday, 19 October.
