Delhi court has issued summons to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on the complaint of ED. ED wants to interrogate Kejriwal in the money laundering case related to Delhi liquor scam but he is not complying with the summons.
Court asked to appear on 17th February
The Chief Minister had not appeared before the ED after being summoned five times in the money laundering case related to Delhi's alleged liquor scam. On this, a petition was filed in the court by ED. Hearing the petition, Rouse Avenue Court pronounced its verdict on Wednesday and issued summons to Kejriwal to appear on February 17. ACMM Divya Malhotra has given this order.
Earlier, ED had issued 5 notices to Arvind Kejriwal for questioning in the alleged liquor scam case. But the CM did not appear before the ED giving different reasons.
CM Bhagwant Mann's tweet
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has tweeted on Rouse Court's notice on X. He wrote that we study the order of the court. Will take action as per law. CM wrote that he will tell the court how all the summons of ED were illegal.
When were summons issued to Kejriwal?
ED has sent summons to CM Kejriwal 5 times in the case related to Delhi liquor scam. The Enforcement Directorate had sent the first summons to Kejriwal on November 2, December 21 last year and on January 3, January 18 and January 31 this year. Kejriwal did not respond to these five summons and said that it was illegal.
CBI summoned Kejriwal
Earlier in April 2023, Kejriwal was summoned by CBI. Then Delhi CM was interrogated in the CBI office for about 9.5 hours. Together, a total of 56 questions were asked to Kejriwal. However, he did not appear before the ED even once.
