Ayushman card holders have got a big shock. Because all the private hospitals have stopped giving free treatment. After the Private Hospital and Nursing Home Association (PHANA), now the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Punjab has also refused to treat under the Ayushman scheme.
The association says that the patients who were currently being treated in private hospitals will also have to pay the entire bill now. The general public will have to bear the brunt of the tussle between the government and private hospitals. IMA Punjab has clarified that until the outstanding amount of Rs 600 crore is not received, there will be no free treatment.
The government should first pay to run the Ayushman scheme
According to PHANA, this is mainly a central government scheme in which 13 lakh people who are blue card holders were included, in which 60 percent was to be paid by the central government while 40 percent was the contribution of the state government.
But the state government included 29 lakh more people in it, due to which the problem started increasing. With the increase in the number of patients, the hospital bills also started increasing. The hospitals have a pending amount of Rs 600 crore. If Ayushman Bharat scheme is to be implemented in private hospitals, then the pending amount will have to be paid first.
Billing of Rs 80-90 crore takes place every month
The association further said that billing of Rs 80 to 90 crore takes place every month and the payment of bills has been stopped for 7 months. Rs 100 crore is pending from earlier. The Health Minister says that the private hospitals have a pending amount of Rs 197 crore while the government hospitals have a pending amount of Rs 166.67 crore which in total amounts to about Rs 364 crore. He said that these are wrong figures being given.
