In Manipur, a CRPF jawan opened fire on his colleagues. In which 3 jawans have died and 8 have been injured. After firing, the jawan also shot himself. The incident happened on Thursday night at 8:30 pm.
According to media reports, the accused Havildar Sanjay Kumar opened fire with his service rifle. In which a constable and a sub-inspector died on the spot. After this, he also shot himself, due to which he died on the spot.
The accused jawan was a member of the 120th battalion of CRPF. At present, the reasons for the incident are being investigated. No official statement has come from the CRPF yet.
President's rule imposed in Manipur
At the same time, the central government imposed President's rule in Manipur on Thursday. This decision was taken 4 days after the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. Singh had submitted his resignation to the Governor on 9 February. More than 300 deaths have occurred due to the ethnic violence that has been going on in the state for 21 months (3 May 2023).
