The death sentence of 8 former Indian Navy officers in Qatar can be put on hold. Because the Qatar court has accepted the petition of the former officers. Now the hearing on the case is going on. The Indian government had appealed against the punishment of the sailors about 15 days ago. However, no official confirmation has been made yet by Qatar or the Indian government in this matter.
According to media reports, Qatar's court has said that it is studying the case and will soon announce the next date of hearing.These 8 officers used to work in Al-Dahra, a private company in Qatar and the company used to provide training to Qatar's armed forces as well as provide related services.
Espionage allegations against officers
The officers are accused of spying for Israel. All these 8 Indian naval personnel have retired. They were kept in captivity for a long time, after which the Qatr court sentenced them to death on 29 October.

Recently, on this matter, the Ministry of External Affairs said that it will find a legal alternative to it. India has filed an application in a court of Qatar regarding this matter. Accepting this, the court has asked to hear the case.
