Amarnath Yatra has been stopped on Saturday (July 6) due to heavy rain. Let us tell you that this decision has been taken after continuous rain since last night. Both Pahalgam and Baltal routes have been closed and the travelers are being sent back to their base camp. According to officials, passengers will be allowed to proceed after the weather improves.
Last year so many pilgrims visited
Let us tell you that Amarnath Yatra started on 29th June and will end on 19th August. Officials said that on Wednesday, more than 30,000 devotees worshiped Baba Barfani. Till now more than one lakh devotees have visited Baba Bafarni. Last year, more than four and a half lakh pilgrims had visited the snow Shivalinga in the holy Amarnath cave situated at an altitude of 3,880 metres.
Arrangements for accommodation of 9 thousand people in Baltal-Pahalgam Base Camp
Best facilities have been provided to the pilgrims who have come for darshan at Nunwan Base Camp of Baltal and Pahalgam. 9 thousand people can stay here daily. Along with this, there are 260 toilets and 120 washrooms on both the travel routes.
Know about both the routes of Amarnath Yatra
Pahalgam Route
It takes about 3 to 5 days to reach the cave via Pahalgam route, but this route is easy. Pahalgam is the base camp of the Amarnath trek, at a distance of 47 km from the Amarnath cave. All travelers can travel from Pahalgam to Amarnath on foot. The first halt is about 16 km from the base camp at Chandanwari after which the real trek begins. The next stop is Pissu Top at 3 km after which, you reach Sheshnag at a distance of 9 km.
After Sheshnag comes Panjtarni, which is 14 km away. After walking another 6 km, you will reach Amarnath caves.

Baltal Route
If time is short, then you can go through Baltal route for Baba Amarnath darshan. It involves climbing only 14 km, but it is only steep, hence the elderly face difficulty on this route. There are narrow roads and dangerous turns on this route.
What things to keep in mind
Carry medical certificate, 4 passport size photographs, Aadhar card, RFID card, travel application form with you during Amarnath Yatra. Along with this, for physical fitness, practice walking 4 to 5 kilometers every day. Do breathing yoga and exercise.

The weather of Amarnath cannot be predicted. It may rain or snow at any time during the journey. The weather gets extremely cold, so it is very important that you cover yourself well with warm clothes.
