Community Health Officers staged a protest at the Family Welfare Center office, Sector 34A, Chandigarh on January 9 to press for their demands and resolution of problems faced during work. Just 2-3 days before this strike, the department had given an opportunity to the CHO leaders of the state to hold a meeting on 8/1/24 which did not yield any positive result.
More than two thousand health officials participated
More than two thousand community health officers working in the Health Wellness Center established in the rural areas of the state Punjab under NHM at the Family Welfare Center office staged a protest to press their demands and resolve the problems during work.
A meeting of the state leaders with Dr. Hatinder Keller, Director of the State Family Welfare Centre, was held 2-3 days ago in which Dr. Keller had assured them to solve the problem by discussing with IAS officer Abhinav Trikha.
All the community health officers of the state said that they have been providing health services in the rural areas of the state for a long time. Not only this, they have also played a major role in Corona crisis, flood situation and many other disasters.
In such a situation, it was also said in the protest that if no proper solution is found in time, then all types of online work will be stopped by the CHO of the state and the struggle will be intensified.
Department is taking work like bonded labor
All the community health officers of the state say that they have to face many difficulties while working in the field. About which the department has been informed several times.
But the matter is not reaching the ears of the department. The department is also trying to take work from the employees by making them bonded labourers. He also says that if the demands are not accepted or the difficulties are not resolved properly then the CHO will be forced to intensify the struggle, for which the health department will have the entire responsibility.
