On Wednesday night, a plane full of passengers collided with an army helicopter in the US capital Washington DC. After which both crashed and fell into the Potomac River. 64 people including 60 passengers on board the plane have died in the accident. Currently, rescue teams are engaged in rescue work.
Many bodies were recovered during the rescue operation
According to American media reports, rescue operation has been started and many bodies have been recovered so far. The accident took place between a US Airlines Bombardier jet and an Army Black Hawk helicopter. According to Army officials, there were 3 people on board the helicopter. The American Airlines jet was coming from Kansas state to Washington.
All flights at the airport cancelled
The company confirmed the accident after 9 pm. According to officials, several calls were received about a plane crash near Reagan National Airport (DCA) at 8:50 pm. Currently, all flights and landings at the airport have been stopped. The wreckage of both the planes is in the Potomac River.
