Like every year, the fifth Naat Mela was organized in the courtyard of Azad Rangmanch Kala Bhawan, Phagwara in the memory of famous Jalandhar Doordarshan artist, producer-director Supandeep Sidhu. Big personalities of Punjabi literature participated in it. The program was inaugurated by Kohinoor of Punjabi theatre, Kewal Dhaliwal by cutting the ribbon.
After this, Supandeep's parents Davinder Kaur and Gurmukh Singh, who had come specially from Canada, lit the lamp. Anit Shabdish, who earned a name as 'Inquilabi Laat of Punjabi Drama', was honoured with the Supandeep Sidhu Memorial Award for her valuable contribution in the field of Punjabi theatre.
On this occasion, the revolutionary play Mashal Da Kafila written by Dr. Davinder was staged under the leadership of Chairman Santokh Singh Dhesi and team in-charge Biba Kulwant and directed by Director Ranjit Bansal. It was greatly appreciated by the audience.
The artists who performed in the play included Ajay Bansal, Babita Dhuleta, Dr. Inderjit Pal, Kulwinder Kaur, Kamal R, Nabita Chamba, Sunita Sandhu, S.P Singh, Savita, Major Kapurthala, Jasleen and Deepak. Music and light were handled by Angamdeep Singh and Parminder Mandhali.
